Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gives keynote address at Texas Public Policy Foundation event

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; one of the best, if not THE best "Liberty State" governors in the land, gave the keynote address at last week's Texas Public Policy Foundation policy orientation event in Austin, Texas.

Among the results of his winning formula implemented after taking office in 2018 are:

• Proud of how Florida counted votes in the election this year and delivered a 400,000 vote win for President Donald J. Trump
• Accepted the resignation of the corrupt election supervisor in Broward County and removed the election supervisor in Palm Beach County
• No ballot harvesting
• Added one Republican in the Florida Senate and five Republicans in the Florida House of Representatives in the November 2020 general election
• Upheld the Rule of Law and banned sanctuary cities with huge public support across party lines
• Didn't touch the "rainy day fund" at all during the 2020 pandemic.
• ALL Business is OPEN in Florida
• The public schools are open, despite veiled threats from the teachers union
• High school sports open under his watch in spite of media fear-mongering

Remember when the Texas SOS waived, proposed the repeal of state election laws right before Presidential elections?

Nah, folks have long forgotten. Before all the brouhaha of the six battleground states using COVID-19 as a pretext to circumvent state legislatures and amend state election laws in advance of the 2020 Presidential Election there was TEXAS.

Folks probably never knew (or forgot) the Texas Secretary of State, Elections Division issued waivers from following state election laws the day after the March 2016 Presidential Primary. That waiver was subsequently followed by proposed, last minute rules changes in the weeks prior to the start of early voting in the November 2016 Presidential Elections.

This is the article I wrote and was published in August 2016, just a few short weeks before the start of early voting in the November 2016 Presidential Election:

The Office of the Texas Secretary of State has proposed new rules, repeal of existing rules and amendments to the Texas Election Code and Texas Administrative Code that could go into effect as early as September 11, 2016. 

In the August 12 , 2016 edition of the Texas Register the Office of the Texas Secretary of State, Elections Division proposes to repeal and replace 1 TAC §81.52, concerning the use of precinct ballot counters and eliminating the requirement for a continuous audit log printer to be attached to the precinct ballot counter during the early voting by personal appearance period. 

Changes to existing requirements pertaining to the printing of “significant election events”, including their date and time stamps printed to the audit log are also proposed.
