Door-to-door COVID shot pushers coming to Fort Bend County, TX

The agreement is an effort to encourage more people in the county to get the COVID jab and Fort Bend County Commissioners just approved spending $350,000 of your hard-earned tax dollars to accomplish exactly that.

The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court agenda item for July 13, 2021 read: 

"Take all appropriate action on Agreement between Fort Bend County and Next Wave Strategies, LLC for Community Vaccine Outreach, pursuant to RFP 21-077, in an amount not to exceed $350,000. (Fund: FEMA-Public Assistance)" 

and linked to a copy of the agreement document.

Teaming up with county elected officials, the Fort Bend County Health Department, DHS/FEMA and the Texas Department of Emergency Management, Community Vaccine Outreach services consultant Next Wave Strategies will develop a messaging and eventual door-to-door "canvass" to provide information to all you "high resistors" out there.

Fort Bend County business at center of indictments in $26 million international trade fraud scheme

$26 Million International Trade Fraud Scheme

A federal grand jury in Houston, Texas, has returned a criminal indictment against eight individuals, while a related civil complaint has charged 14 individuals and one company relating to international trade fraud violations stemming from a decade-long scheme involving tires from China.  

Law enforcement arrested Zheng “Miranda” Zhou, 53, of Missouri City, and Kun “Bruce” Liu, 40, of Sugar Land, yesterday. They made their initial appearances in Houston federal court today, at which time the criminal indictment was unsealed. 

Also charged in the indictment are Qinghua “Shirley” Song, 44, of Jurupa Valley, California; and Chinese residents Yue “Joanna” Peng, 42, Li “Cathy” Chen, 38, Xin “Devin” Zhang, age unknown, Shaohui “Jasper” Jia, 40, and Deng “David” Yongqiang, 36. They are all considered fugitives and warrants remain outstanding for their arrests.

The Department of Justice’s Civil Division also filed a civil complaint Dec. 11 alleging trade fraud in the U.S. Court of International Trade. The complaint names the eight criminal defendants and six other individuals - Xiaozhen “Jenny” Zhang, 34, Di “Terry” Wang, 34, Liang “Leon” Yu, 49, Lin “Leo” Zhang, 37, Jinbing “David” Wang, 36, and Minglian “Bill” Li, 28, as well as Houston area company Winland International Inc., dba Super Tire Inc. David Wang is a resident of New Jersey, while the remaining civil defendants reside in China.

“The Civil Division, through the Department of Justice’s Trade Fraud Task Force (TFTF), will continue to partner with U.S. law enforcement agencies and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices to aggressively investigate and pursue individuals and companies who attempt to evade U.S. customs laws and target the U.S. manufacturing base with unfair trade practices,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffery Bossert Clark. “We recognize the importance of ensuring that U.S. manufacturers are competing on a level playing field.” 

“China and its industries want to rob, replicate and replace American made good and technology,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick for the Southern District of Texas. “Illegally importing and dumping these goods is one way to systemically weaken American competitors. Whether direct espionage by the Chinese government or trade fraud like in this case, we will continue to investigate and prosecute every case we can.

NRCC adds protector of alledged child molestor to their 2020 "Young Guns" Congressional candidate list

The National Republican Congressional Committee added a defendant accused of refusing medical and mental treatment to a child sexually abused by a volunteer at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Justice Detention Center to their 2020 "Young Guns" Congressional candidate list.

After Texas held their March 2020 Republican primaries, no candidate running in the race for Texas 22nd Congressional District advanced outright to the November general election. Two candidates, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls and businesswoman Kathaleen Wall will face each other in a primary runoff currently scheduled for July 14, 2020.

On Friday May 8 CE noticed Sheriff Nehls now appears in the "On The Radar" section of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) "2020 Young Guns" Congressional candidate list.

On May 5th, we exclusively reported a motion hearing in the child sex molestation case against Fort Bend County and the Fort Bend County Sheriff would be held Monday May 11, 2020.

Hearing date set in child molestation case against Fort Bend County, County Sheriff

New motions filed in Federal court reveal a hearing date has been set in a child sex molestation case at the county juvenile detention center against Deborah Sutter, Fort Bend County, Troy Nehls, Fort Bend County Sheriff and over 16 known & unknown employees of Fort Bend County.

The attorney representing plaintiff Frank Thomas (think John Doe) subpoenaed York Risk Services, the County's insurance company to produce the insurance file --documents that would, should establish the County's compliance with the terms and conditions of their insurance agreement with York.

That file would necessarily include copies of reports with names, dates & times, photos & video, notes, conclusory statements and their authors, insurance adjuster notes, emails, (think everything you would share with your insurance company when making a claim) etc that would corroborate essentially all of the incidents forming the basis of the lawsuit against the defendants.

No surprise Fort Bend County does not want their insurance company to turn that entire claim file over to the plaintiff. 

And in an eight-page filing with the Court, neither does York Risk Services.

Citing the request as "overly broad, vague and ambiguous"; that they are a non-party to the case, York Risk Services also explains the production of the file poses an expense burden.

York also objects to the request because it seeks information or documents that are privileged or otherwise exempt from discovery pursuant to applicable privilege or protection, including the attorney-client privilege and the attorney work product doctrine.

However according to plaintiff counsel, there's a teeny, tiny issue associated with York's and the County's objections.

Get this.

"York provided the entire claim file to Fort Bend County on April 13, 2020, four days before raising objections." 

Court records reveal a telephonic motion hearing is set for May 11 at 10:00 a.m.

UPDATED: Dr. Laura Pressley responds - Fort Bend County commissioners court to conduct workshop on new voting systems; will the systems produce paper backup records?

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court will conduct a workshop to view four new voting systems certified for use in the State of Texas; will the Commissioners ask for confirmation the machines can produce paper backup records?

According to Item 34 posted on the agenda for the Tuesday August 13, 2019 court meeting the commissioners will discuss these systems:

• ExpressVote Marker

• ExpressVote Tabulator

• Hart Verity Voting

• Hart VerityHybrid 

Fort Bend County Commissioners and constituents attending the workshop should ask:

1. Which voting systems produce the statutorily required ballot images required for manual recounts, including storage and printing?


2. Please confirm which systems support the statutorily required ballot images contain the legal components of an official Texas ballot, such as the election name and date, each candidate’s name, voting squares, and a unique serial number as defined by the Texas Constitution?

3. Please confirm each voting system comports with Texas Election Code statutes 66.023 supporting the printing of Early Voting tapes  that report the precinct returns for that location.

Surely no one wants the Texas Secretary of State in a position to ever issue waivers for counties that do not print backup/ results tapes for Early Voting and Election Day, nor does anyone want the Secretary of State to ever issue waivers to all 254 Texas counties NOT to audit paper ballot results.

A County Examiner source revealed that adjacent Harris County, Texas is strongly considering the acquisition of new voting equipment that can produce paper backup records, and we hope Fort Bend does the same.

Even with a paper ballot backup, voters and candidates must remain vigilant, step up to perform checks on voting results, be central counting station watchers, and hold election administrators accountable to all Texas election laws.

We must ensure the new systems strictly adhere to all Texas’ paper trail  laws:

• Counties must provide for mandated consecutively numbered paper ballots to voters to prevent vote duplication or removal (Texas Election Code 52.062),
• Election Judges must print mandated results tapes for Early Voting (Texas Election Code 66.023) and Election Day (Texas Election Code 66.022 and 66.024),
• Secretary of State, Election Administrators and Central Counting Station Watchers must ensure audit logs of central counting computers record all electronic entries (Texas Administrative Code 81.62(b)).

Election laws shall not be compromised.  Voters and candidates must be courageous to file

election lawsuits when discrepancies and illegalities are discovered.
